ORC AGAINITY TECHNOLOGY
The Againity system is based on the well-known ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) technology, as illustrated in the figure above.
The technology involves a low-pressure turbine set in motion by the pressure of an organic gaseous medium. The turbine then drives a generator to produce electricity.
An available heat source is used to heat up the organic medium. Any heat from 90 degrees Celsius can be used in the system. It can be heat, e.g. from a boiler that burns biomass (wood chips), biogas, natural gas, municipal waste or RDF fuels. It is also possible to use waste heat from turbogenerators, thermal energy from solar panels, geothermal sources or waste heat from industrial processes.
The efficiency of the ORC system depends on the temperature difference between the hot and cold sides of the system. Under favorable conditions, the electrical efficiency is about 20%.
Thanks to the unique design of the patented Againity turbine and the small number of moving parts in the system, we can offer a high quality product. This minimizes the need for service and maintenance and significantly shortens the payback time.
The figure above shows a block diagram of an ORC system connected to the boiler circuit (i.e. to the hot side of the ORC) and to the district heating network (i.e. to the cooling side of the ORC).
